We can all agree that being genuine is a pretty rare quality and hard to find in others. In this modern world where people mostly communicate virtually, it is very hard to differentiate a fake personality from a genuine one. But what makes a person truly genuine? Genuine behaviors mean real and honest; a genuine person is essentially the same on the inside as they are on the outside. In a world full of fakes, phonies, spin-offs, and knock-offs, it can be refreshing to meet one of these rare types.
Here you can identify the behaviors of truly genuine people.
- They aren’t concerned with being liked. The need to be liked is a classic sign of insecurity. Genuine people are confidant. If you like them that’s okay. If you don’t, that’s okay too.
- They are comfortable in their own skin. Pale, tan, pink, or purple, genuine people love themselves how they are and aren’t afraid to show it.
- They speak their mind. The genuine share their true thoughts, opinions, and beliefs even if it might stir up a UFC-worthy fistfight.
- They are vulnerable. Vulnerable behaviors are difficult in a society of perfection. Genuine people understand their weaknesses. They take their fears and failures and learn from them.
- They have a stable self-esteem. With too much self-esteem, a person becomes arrogant and with too little, they are insecure. A genuine person is balanced right in the middle.
- They don’t seek attention. Genuine people never seek for attention. They know their value and don’t care what others think. Their approval comes from the inside – through self-awareness and achievements.
- They really listen. Genuine people let go of distractions and focus on conversations. They aren’t checking their text messages or thinking about who’s getting voted off tonight’s episode of American Idol.
- They openly give and receive compliments. Those who are genuine maintain a solid sense of self-esteem and don’t view compliments with strings attached.
- They aren’t judgmental of others. Genuine people understand that every one is different so they don’t criticize.
- They practice what they preach. Genuine people don’t give advice on something they haven’t done themselves nor do they say one thing and do another.
- They don’t seek materialistic things. Most people buy fancy clothes or expensive cars in order to seek happiness. Those who are genuine don’t need money to be happy; they find inner happiness.
- They are always honest. Another word for genuine is honest. A genuine person will always tell the truth.
Being genuine is such a positive quality to have. Do you think you are genuine? Make sure and tell the truth, as genuine people never lie to themselves. If not, try becoming a genuine person. Trust me, it feels much better to be genuine and unique than to be a phony and fake.
