Flexibility – The Key to Strong Leadership and Teamwork

Sometimes as I sit back and contemplate, one question comes to my mind often: We are totally flexible provided everything is exactly the way we want it, right! On the contrary, I think blessed are the flexible for they will not be bent out of shape, in short, better bend than break .To elaborate a key point here, the stiffest tree is most easily cracked, while bamboo or willow survives the storm by bending with the wind. I believe flexibility is a requirement for survival, why because if you cannot be flexible in life you become irritable with life!

A simple life example from being a dentist and personal trainer, is that flexibility is very crucial to us as professionals. Just small gestures like, Incorporating a good warm greetings / warm up stretching plan and great good bye or cool down plan with our patients/ workout clients helps decreases chances of miscommunication or injury.

One key point we all understand very well is that flexibility makes buildings to be stronger, imagine what it can do to your soul. In short, flexibility in behavior of each and every team member, makes a human win hearts.

So let’s try to work together to learn flexibility and adaptability. Lets continue to be stubborn about our goals, and try to be flexible about our methods. Once we establish flexibility in our thoughts we will inevitably succeed.

Do this with me, empty you mind, be formless and shapeless-like water. Now you put water into a cup, it becomes the cup, you put water into a bottle it becomes the bottle, you put water in teapot it becomes teapot. Now water can flow or it can crash. Choose to be water, my friend.

All I am proposing is stay committed to your decisions, but stay flexible in your approach. Remember, to reach a great height, a person needs to have a great depth. I was taught that if we don’t challenge ourselves, we will never realize what we would have become … Let’s make flexibility our new challenge, our new quality for quality is never an accident, it is always the result of intelligent effort. We cannot change the past, but the future is yet in our power. Remember, LIFE is a movement. The more life there is, the more flexibility there is. The more fluid we are, the more we are ALIVE.

As the leader of your team it is important for you to have the flexibility to adjust your style to the audience you are leading. The Words that come out of your mouth are singularly the most powerful force available to humanity. We can choose to use this force constructively with words of encouragement, or destructively using words of despair. Words have inborn energy and power, with the ability to help, to heal, to hinder, to hurt, to harm, to humiliate and to humble and earn respect! Choice is yours to make.
