As a small business owner and professional, one has to always make a conscious effort to preach, practice and reinforce that you get more bees with honey. But that doesn’t mean I don’t get frustrated in my life. My way of dealing with frustration was to shut down and to think and speak logically at the right time, which some may believe is very unhealthy and self destructive.See, I’m fortunate enough to have learned from my experiences, not to waste time getting frustrated with my co-workers, kids or friends and family for not doing everything I wish they would. If someone doesn’t respond to me the way I want them to, I understand that it doesn’t have anything to do with me.
Now I totally agree with one excellent point I learned early on in my life, that at the end of the day, you’re responsible for yourself and your actions and that’s all you can control. So rather than be frustrated with what you can’t control, try to fix the things you can.
A lot of time in life and at work our coworkers may say or do things that may make us feel frustrated, and that is okay, as we are all human beings. I personally believe that one must take the time and put in the effort to understand those said words, as they may at times give you an insight, on things as perceived by them. And I am not saying I am always right, all I am suggesting is, try to look at glass half full and look at things with a positive attitude in life. You see, in teamwork, the object is not to be mean to the losers but to find a winner, agree.
1. Get frustrated because of the way people perceive me or
2. Be happy enough about the things I’ve realized about myself that I can tolerate the way people perceive me?I agree with all of you 100% that we all have to struggle to change people’s perceptions of us. I acknowledge that I have at times gotten very frustrated with the perception that I’m this shy, retiring, incompetent, inhibited aristocratic creature when I’m absolutely not like that at all. Although, over the years, I have learned to not be stressed out, with this perception as I know now, to remind myself with my conscious effort, that is not true. On the contrary, I’m much more outgoing, friendly, confident and exuberant than my image. The thing is we all have to make the effort to remind ourselves everyday that, you as a person, have a God blessed terrific personality and a great way of influencing people, and we need to do that, without your listener realizing that you did that. It all comes down to making an impact, by being a role model for people around you.
I was taught since childhood to always remember that “you are absolutely unique” Just like everyone else and not to take life too seriously. You will never get out of it alive. I believe, everyone looks great smiling so continue smiling and working hard.Throughout all my blogs, I have repeatedly been emphasizing the importance of positive attitude, smile, teamwork and togetherness. They say practices makes perfect, so start today and over the years, as your practice and experience grows, you would have acquired an innate power and skill to influence people. And your office environment will be a friendly and helpful workspace.
